Come celebrate the Canoe! From its early uses by Aboriginals, Explorers and Fur Traders, to its modern role as one Canada's favourite recreational vehicles.
Samuel de Champlain Provincial Park is celebrating National Canoe Day by hosting the Reel Paddling Film Festival on June 26, 2011 from 10:00am - 4:00pm. Events take place along the Mattawa River - a Canadian Heritage River.
With your park day pass or camping permit, participate in the following activities: -Films from the Reel Paddling Film Festival all day at the Canadian Ecology Centre! -Voyageur Canoe Tours -Guided Group Paddle about our canoeing heritage -Paddling Demonstrations -Paddle-making -Barbecue -Canoe rentals available from Algonquin North Outfitters and more!
Don't forget to stop in at the newly renovated Mattawa River Visitor Centre to see all the new exhibits and the massive 38' Birchbark Canoe.
